Diwali Festival Of Lights

diwali

Oh! Its Diwali again. When we think of Diwali our heart is filled with joy.Diwali the sacred festival reminds us of diyas, rangoli, home made sweets, crackers.Diwali the festival is to rejoice, laugh and be happy about. Moreover Diwali to worship the Goddess of prosperity Laxmi.

Over the days we have lost the real meaning of the festival. It is now more a pomp and show.Big showrooms offering discounts on the expensive jwellery. Markets flooded with consumer goods luring the customers with offers.Newspapers depicting fashion models showing designer outfits.Sweet business flourishing at its peak during Diwali. In the evening restaurants are very busy with people prefering to eat the cuisine by the hotel chef rather than inviting families cooking at home. There are exotic firecrackers which were more of fun the good old days now they cause more of pollution.Above all we live in a materialistic society and all this extravaganza is the major attraction of the festival.

But as the mythological story goes Ram after killing the demon Ravan returned to Ayodhya rescuing his wife Sita. So it was the victory of good over evil Ram stood in the face of truth.so this festival sends us the message to destroy the evil.Evil in the form of false pride, malice, hatred, jealousy. Its  time to spread goodness.Goodness by means of good deeds.Raising a voice against injustice.Helping someone in need.Kindle hope in the heart of a broken.

We worship the goddess of wealth on Diwali. Laxmi sits on the lotus.Lotus which signifies peace and purity.Lotus which lives in the mud yet retains its beauty and grace. So we must pray for peace on this Diwali. We must be pure in our heart and mind and try to cultivate inner beauty.Inner beauty is beauty of soul.A good soul will be one who will bring smile to someone on this Diwali, who will hug a friend or inspire someone. In fulfilling our materlistic pursuits we forget our loved ones.So on this Diwali spend time with your loved ones.

Diwali gives us the message “Tamsoma Jyotirgamaya” i.e. from darkness to light. So this Diwali remove the darkness. Darkness of ignorance.Lets usher with knowledge and new beginning.

Diwali is the beginning of new year. So on this new year Lets take a pledge to discipline our lives. Lets take a pledge to  progress in life.Lets take a pledge to start a new mission.

Make your Diwali worthwhile.
