Diwali A Vibrant Festival

Diwali is a great Indian festival celebrated with a lot of fervor and excitement. It has immense significance in our Indian mythology. It is a very sacred and pious festival carrying a special meaning of truth and sacrifice. The vibrant festival of Diwali fills us with new hope and vision. It inspires us to remove the darkness of ignorance and illuminate our hearts and minds with goodness and faith.

We worship goddess Laxmi on the day of Diwali. Goddess Laxmi is the goddess of wealth and prosperity. Goddess Laxmi sits on the flower lotus which is a sign of purity. We worship goddess Laxmi on the auspicious day of Diwali so that she blesses us with abundance, true happiness, and bliss. Diwali is a grand festival filled with joy and enthusiasm. We light diyas on the day of Diwali to fill our homes with brightness.  As we lighten our homes we must also lighten our hearts and minds and purify our souls to make the festival of Diwali meaningful. Diwali is a festival when we usher from darkness to light, vice to virtue, and untruth to truth.

But in modern times the festival is losing its charm. The festival is more of a pomp and show and display of riches. The festival has lost its real meaning in the times of selfishness and materialism. Moreover, firecrackers are burnt on Diwali pollutes the atmosphere making it unhealthy. It is very disheartening to know that these firecrackers are made by small children in factories. Diwali has more become a festival of extravaganza where people are busy buying consumer products, electronics, and lavish items to fulfill their endless desires. Though it is fruitful to buy on Diwali nowadays it has become a trend to spend money uselessly. Diwali is a religious festival it must not create disparity but oneness and solidarity.

Diwali is a festival of togetherness, how people of Ayodhya celebrated it when lord Ram returned from fourteen years of exile. They celebrated with their true hearts praying for the well-being of lord Ram and Sita. Therefore, on Diwali, we must pray to seek blessings from god so that our life becomes happy and successful.

Diwali is celebrated as the victory of good over evil. Ram killed the demon Ravan and saved his wife Sita. Diwali symbolizes righteousness, lord Ram walked on the path of truth and goodness and destroyed evil. The festival of Diwali teaches us to be truthful and faithful.

But it is often seen that there is evil all around in society. The rise in crimes due to hypocrisy and dissatisfaction has destroyed the fabric of our society. We have become very callous and indifferent which is the cause of all chaos and unrest. Diwali is a festival of purity, purity will come when we cleanse our hearts and souls and perform our deeds with utmost devotion. The festival of Diwali will hold well with our honest commitments.

Diwali is a sparkling festival. Let’s add the sparkle with the spirit of joy and hope.
